  2. The left side of each animal was diagrammatically divided into 16 segments and each body segment was assigned a score between 1 (very clean) and 5 (very dirty). All scores were summed to obtain a total score for each animal, between 1 and 80, which equated to the sum of the scores for each of the 16 body segments
